Pier 17
"Pier 17" by artist and illustrator Tony Calandra features a detailed interpretation of South Street Seaport in New York City originally illustrated on chipboard board with oil pastel.
From the Artist:
"The 3rd painting in this series is Pier 17 was created in the same manner and materials as 28th & Madison. However, with "Pier 17" I experimented more than I had with previous works, expanding my color palate depicting the sun's reflection on the pier and off the buildings, working with the cast shadows, and including the life forms of scattered people and sea gulls. The vantage point is not as high or drastic as the first two pieces, but "Pier 17" brings it's own merit. The three paintings ("34th & 5th", "28th & Madison", and "Pier 17" all hung in an exhibition at the Grace institute."
